"Download Add-Ons" button on getting started window

Status: New

To raise the visibility of the increasing number of NI VeriStand add-ons available on the website, I suggest we put a button on the Getting Started Window of NI VeriStand that takes the user to www.ni.com/veristand/addons.htm

This doesn't have to be a button on the window, it could be in the menu.. under file, tools or help.

Even cooler would be a utility that would allow you to browse for add-ons and automatically install them when selected to do so. Ideally it would link to the add-ons website so that the list can be dynamic.

We would need to figure out a good way to manage the installation. Do we use LV installers, MSI installers, or do something similar to VI Package Manager? I personally like the idea of doing something similar to how VI Package Manager; maybe call it NIVS Add-On Manager. 🙂

Why not using a package manager, like APT, for that ?

(this is 20+ years industrial-grade proven technology).
