Dear All;
what is the resolution of myRIO? and is that possible to plug thermocouple directly to myRIO AI channel?

samuelaa,
I checked the user manual for the myRIO and see that the analog inputs have 12 bit resolution.

The thermocouple would need signal conditioning before being measured. Have you seen the temperature measuring projects already listed for the myRIO? One of them uses a I2C-based temperature sensor; this would eliminate the need for conditioning.

Dear Wayne;
I hope the signal conditioning element needed is for amplifcation purpose so that it can boosts the low output voltage to a measurable higer voltage
and is that possible to implement it with a simple amplifier?or is there an other task for the signal condtioning element?
best regards;
samuel.

samuelaa,
Amplification is only one part of the signal conditioning process. See the linked white papers or research thermocouple conditioning using your favorite search engine. A regular analog input channel would only successfully measure the raw voltage, nothing else. Something else to consider is maybe some type of inline conditioner; input the thermocouple to it, and it provides the conditioning and then outputs a meaningful voltage. Of course you would have to address scaling in the conversion.

Dear Wayne;
firstly,i would like to appreciate your assitance in early response !
secondly, Can we use off the shelf temperature sensors with built in signal conditioning?

samuel.

samuelaa,
Maybe. You would need to look at the specifications of the conditioned signal and see if compatible with the analog input specifications for the myRIO. Maybe you don't need high accuracy and 12 bit is okay for your project.

samuelaa,
It is preferred to spend some time in the sample projects and getting started materials if starting from zero. You can go to the community board linked below to start working on projects.
All things related to myRIO.
NI myRIO Getting Started - There's some useful initial steps that should get you up and running.

The myRIO community board - there are a lot of projects posted here.

Beyond that, you can find a lot of projects on other web sites using a search engine.
