custom vi for ni-elvis II system

Would it would be possible to write custom VI'S for the Ni-Elvis II system that would link to the Ni-Elvis hardware data acquisition system, acquiring data from the board and putting it into the custom VI.   If so, is there any literature describing this process?

Yes, it is possible (and easy) to build custom VIs for NI ELVIS.

NI ELVISmx (the driver/API for NI ELVIS II) comes with full NI DAQmx (the NI data acquisition driver) support and its own LV palette of NI ELVIS II express VIs. For an easy start I would recommend to use the configurable NI ELVISmx Oscilloscope express VI (Block diagram > Function palette > Measurement I/O > NI ELVISmx). You will find a description of the NI ELVISmx express VIs in the NI ELVISmx help (Start > Programs > National Instruments > NI ELVISmx > NI ELVISmx Help).

If you are more experienced you can also use the NI DAQmx palette or even modify the NI ELVIS NI ELVISmx Soft Front Panel Instruments directly (NI ELVISmx Help > NI ELVISmx and LabVIEW).
