MyRio Startup Time

We are currently using the MyRio to run our Formula Hybrid Racecar.  We have loaded on a RT application and programmed it to run on startup.  It works just fine but takes 20-22 seconds to start running the RT program when the system is powered.  We are running very simple code with no modifications to the FPGI.  Is there a way to improve the startup time of the MyRio?

Thanks,
Joseph Belter

Hey Joseph,

The myRIO runs the NI Linux Real-Time operating system.  When you power on the myRIO the OS loads, then the necessary drivers load, then your startup application can start running.  A lot of the boot time is due to the OS and there is nothing the user can do to speed this up.  If you have a bunch of drivers installed (software you installed through MAX) that you are not using you may be able to improve the boot time by removing the unused drivers.

Thanks!
