LabVIEW job available in Boulder

LabVIEW job opportunity - contact Kaley Herman for more information: kherman@appleone.com

About the company:

-          This company makes shake tables, does vibration testing, earthquake simulation, and geocentrifuges.

-          The software that the company uses is designed in-house with LabVIEW and therefore it is important to fully understand LabVIEW in order to help install the software and train customers.

-          50% of their work is exported internationally and the rest is done in the US, dealing mostly with the nuclear and energy industry.

-          Environment best described as: collegial, friendly, hectic, interesting, something new every month, not a stable job pushing paper at a big company. They are a team of casual / blue collar engineers.

About the role:

-          This candidate will be working directly with the Chief Software Designer who is in charge of software development and hardware integration.

o   This designer has been developing the software  they use for 6-7 years. They are always upgrading and he needs more time to develop code in order to take the software to the next level. This is one of the most complex LabVIEW systems in the game - this person will manage the care & feeding of the program, handling clients calling in for troubleshooting, acting as the 1st line of defense to answer 2/3 of the questions for the company.

-          Although there won’t be any travel to start, eventually there may be some extended time installations of 2-3 weeks. 6-12 systems are delivered per year.

-          Starting in this role will primarily consist of customer support, system install, data collection, troubleshooting, VERSION CONTROL of software.

-          This can be a hands on role - some soldering may be involved, familiarity with voltmeters, running cables, putting stuff together.

-          Growth within the company is eventual and encouraged.

-          Need someone who is open to learning different aspects. There is lots of on the job training, they will throw a lot at this person, and they have to integrate a lot of different technologies.

-          This person should be very organized and structured as they will be doing a lot of project planning.

Qualifications:

-          CLAD as a minimum certification

-          In-depth understanding of simple math operations such as frequency measurements

-          Background in STEM! Most likely a B.S. with at least 1-2 years of experience – this company does understand, however, that there are outlying and outstanding individuals who may have equivalent work experience

-          Experience modifying or running a LabVIEW system; running labs or code

-          Mandarin is a HUGE plus!

-          Must be PASSIONATE about what they are doing – the type of person who is likely to be working on a project outside of work that likes to develop something and see it all the way through.

-          Someone who is persistent through the ups and downs of business demands; good at hammering out issues

-          Someone with a background in optics is ok – the math they use is similar

-          They will accept someone with a robotics background as well - the shake tables are basically simple robots, but with straightforward degrees of freedom.

Their Interview Process:

-          The first step will be a pre-screening interview with me to make sure that there is a mutual interest and match from employee to employer.

-          Should the company choose to interview you, there will be a 30min-1hr meeting with 2-3 people of the team. GOOD COMMUNICATION IS IMPORTANT! There is a positive and friendly team attitude. They have lots of foreign clients and customer service is very important.

-          They will want to see proof of CLAD - this could be a 30 minute assessment where they ask the candidate to write a small LabVIEW program on one of their computers.

This position is offering $25-$28/hr depending on experience but will offer a raise after the first few months if the candidate is doing well. The company is looking for someone who is ready to jump into the role headfirst! If that sounds like you, please get in touch!
