Custom Operator Interface throughing error in Win 7 German Machine

Hi,

We have a Visual Studio, MFC application developed in OS installed in English Language machine (Development Machine).

This application interacts with NI TestStand and works accordingly.

The issue is like, the exe is giving the attached error when it’s tried to execute in Win 7 German machine.

We are suspecting that, it may be due to the German language OS.

Also we are assuming that some settings in Visual Studio environment may solve this problem. And I am not sure about these settings.

If you have any idea, request to suggest in this concern.

System error 988 whlie loading the LabView eun-time engine (C:\Program file\....\\lvrt.dll)

I am trying to use NI devices with Lazarus (there is no pascal section, so I post here).

When I try to run my application:

  DAQmxBaseCreateTask('TaskHandle', TaskHandle);
  DAQmxBaseCreateAIVoltageChan(taskHandle,'Dev1/ai0','',DAQmx_Val_Cfg_Default,-10.0,10.0,DAQmx_Val_Volts,'');

I get the following error message:
„System error 988 while loading the LabView eun-time engine (C:\Program file\....\\lvrt.dll)
nidaqmxbaselv requires a version 2010 (or compatible) LabView run-time engine. Please contact the vendor of nidaqmxbaselv to correct this problem.“

I installed LabView run-time engine 2012, but I still get the same error.
Then I tried to install LabView run-time engine 2010- the same result.
I removed LabView run-time engine 2012- same result.
I tried to install LabView run-time engine 2010 again (since I did not see it in the add/remove list)- then I noticed, that the installer shows „A newer version is already installed".

What shall I do?

we are using UI-classes of Measurement Studio in our software.

Hi,

I am working with a usb4000 ocean optics device and I wanted to acquire a set of 10 spectra and determine the average before outputting it to a graph display. So far I have been using the 'read spectra' for the usb4000, averaging all the scans in a loop and simply attempting to output it to a waveform chart. But if I do this my resulting spectrum on the graph does not look accurate.

I've attached my file here.

Any help would be much appreciated and please let me know if I need to clarify anything!

Dear Experts:

     I am using NI-USB 6501 under VS2010 and I got some problem as follows:

1. How to generate a digital pulse (finite length) from port2:line0? Is it possible to set the frequency and dutycycle?

2. How to generate continuous digital signals(0/1) from port2:line1? Is it possible to know the frequency and dutycycle? For the following device will sample the data when receiving the fallings of the digital pulse in line0.

3. How to output the data(line0) and clock(line1) at the same time?

Looking forward for your answer and appreciate every one who cares about my question.

Can I Control the Pulse offset using the Counter Out?

Hello Everyone.

I am trying to generate the Pulse as below;

I have seen and understood an example to generate a pulse waveform "GenDigPulseTrain_Continuous".

However, I can not control the offset of the pulse train.

Although the function gives me "initial delay(The amount of time in seconds to wait before generating the first pulse)",

I can not shift "t_dead" cycle.

/*01.Frequency Control*/
// The units to use to define pulse frequency.
  m_pTaskWrite->COChannels.CreatePulseChannelFrequency(vecstrings[0]/*LPCTSTR counter*/,
   "PWM_C0_CH_HIGH"/*LPCTSTR nameToAssignChannel*/,
   DAQmxCOPulseFrequencyUnitsHertz,
   DAQmxCOPulseIdleStateHigh,
   dDeadTime,
   m_nFncFrequency/*frequency*/,
   prDuty.second/*dutyCycle*/);

  // The units to use to define pulse frequency.
   m_pTaskWrite->COChannels.CreatePulseChannelFrequency(vecstrings[1]/*LPCTSTR counter*/,
    "PWM_C0_CH_LOW"/*LPCTSTR nameToAssignChannel*/,
    DAQmxCOPulseFrequencyUnitsHertz,
    DAQmxCOPulseIdleStateLow,
    dDeadTime/**2 + (prDuty.second *dCycleTime)*/,

Duplicate TaskHandle

Hello,

I am wondering if there is a way to duplicate a TaskHandle variable, for example

TaskHandle Task1, Task2;

DAQmxCreateTask ("", &Task1);
Task2 = Task1;

//configure and start Task1

DAQmxWriteAnalogF64 (Task2, ...);

I would expect this to work because since TaskHandle is defined as void*, any modifications to Task1 after the Task2=Task1 assignment should equally affect Task2. However, I receive a "Task specified is invalid or does not exist" error when writing to Task2, though Task1 works fine.

I would be glad to hear any suggestions.

Regards

Generated Pulse waveform is distorted when I deliver the signal to the output port in the DAQmx

Problem: Generated Pulse waveform is distorted when I deliver the signal to the output port in the DAQmx.

Environment: Windows XP sp3 (32bit), Visual Studio 2010 sp1, NI-Measurement Studio 2010

Device: NI - DAQmx PCI 6251
 Analog Input: 1.00MS/s multi-channel (aggregate)
 Analog Output: 2 Channel 2.00MS/s

Reference Example: AO_ContGenVoltageWfm_IntClk / AI_ContAcqVoltageSamples_IntClk

Generated Pulse:
1) AO0 = Square Waveform /0-5V / 8KHz / 0.5㎲/sample / sample 50% Duty
2) AO1 = Square Waveform /0-5V / 8KHz / 0.5㎲/sample / (Reverse Image)

Description: I’d like to deliver the waveform stream satisfied with specified constraints to the 2 channel output port in the DAQmx. To verify accuracy of the generated waveform, I did an electrical wiring from the Analog output channel (2 channels) to the Analog Input channel (2 channels) in DAQmx. As a result of this experiment, I could get a result which has signal distortion. Since the waveform has to satisfy with both high frequency (8KHz) and very short moment interval time (△t = 0.5㎲/sample) between samples, I cannot handle some parameters of the function in the referenced VC++ example. Following formulas shows an approach to deliver the generate pulse waveform to output port satisfied with constraints.

Analog Output Channel
Frequency = 8,000 cycles/sec (constraint)
Sample per Buffer = 2,000,000 = 2*106 samples/buffer
Cycles per Buffer = 80,000 cycles/buffer
Sample per Channel = 1,000,000 = 1*106 samples/channel

 Sample Rate = Frequency * (Sample per Buffer / Cycle per Buffer)
                          = 8,000 * (2*106 / 80,000) = 2*106 samples / sec
 △t  = 1 sec / 2*106 samples / sec
           = 0.5 * 10-6 sec/sample (constraint)
 Buffer Cycle = Sample Rate / Sample per Channel
                          = (2*106 samples / sec) / (1*106 samples/channel)
                          = 2 channel / sec

Analog Input Channel
Sample per Channel = 1,000,000 = 1*106 samples/channel
 Sample Rate  = 1 MS/s * (2 Channel) = 5 * 105 Samples / Sec

Program Code
AO_ContGenVoltageWfm_IntClk / AI_ContAcqVoltageSamples_IntClk (VC++ Example)

Result: The proposed approach was implemented in the experiment environment (VS2010, MStudio2010). As shown in Figure 1, we could get the unsatisfied result. Although I intended to make a ‘square’ pulse wave, the result looks like ‘trapezoid’ pulse wave (Figure.1). However, there is other result which was undertaken with different parameter condition. It looks like the square shape not the trapezoid shape.
Please let me know what the conditions make the problem of signal distortion. (AO0 = Green line / AO1 = Red line)

[Figure. 1] Frequency 8000 Hz / Cycle per Buffer = 8000 Result

[Figure. 2] Frequency 1000 Hz / Cycle per Buffer = 1000 Result

Questions: Please let me know following questions.
1) Is it possible to deliver the generated pulse wave satisfied with constraints (f= 8KHz), △t = 0.5㎲/sample) to the output port without distortion using PXI 6251?
(Is it possible to solve the problem, if I use the LabView or MAX?)

I'm developping a c++ project using DAQmx. I use the NI PCI 6534 card and trying to start a digital output task when i get a bit from /dev1/port2/line0. So i suppose i have to use a trigger but i m not sure about how to use trigger functions.

Someone could help me on their use?

How to get workaround for 'USB-6008/6009 Error -200361: Buffer Overflow Error' to work?

Hi,

we use the USB-6009 device and seem to encounter the Windows 7 EHCI driver problem.

But how do we get the "USB Transfer Request Count Property" workaround (Doc. ID: 3K6BT0UR) to work with the C-interface?

We tried the DAQmxSetAOUsbXferReqCount function but got the following result:

DAQmx Error: Specified property is not supported by the device or is not applicable to the task.

Property DAQmx_AO_UsbXferReqCount

Status Code: -200452

According to the workaround description it requires DAQmx 9.4 at least.

Should be no problem with using 9.5.

Legacy support for 64 bit and Visual Studio 2010

Hi,

we are happily working with the Legacy package of Measurement Studio, mostly using the UI classes.

But: we would like to migrate our application from Visual Studio 2008 to 2010 and also port it to 64 bit.

Is there a possibility to continue working with the legacy package, e.g. with extra supplied 64 bit libraries?

It would be a larger effort to rewrite all UI using the .NET assemblies of Measurement Studio 2010+.

Kind regards,

How to get sensitivity and units from TEDS

Hi.

First, I hope I have posted this in the most suitable board.

Recently I got involved in a project at my university as a programmer for a research group which study modal analysis. They are utilizing National Instrument measuring equipment and TEDS compatible accelerometers. This research group want to make measurements with a sensor array consisting of (around) 50 accelerometers. They want to make the measuremnts in MatLab with the session based interface in the data aquition toolbox.

The thing is that im developing an interface between MatLab and NI-DAQmx which can be utilized by my mex built-in MatLab functions (C/C++ language). Up until now I have been able to extract basic TEDS of several individual sensors and return this to MatLab as a MatLab struct. But I'm having trouble with getting information about the sensor type (accelerometer, microphone, etc...), the sensitivity of the sensor, and the physical units of sensitivity. This information I would like to use to auto setup channels in MatLab DAQ-toolbox, such that I only have to scan the array of available sensors, and then set each channel up in my MatLab-DAQ session.

I have been looking at functionality in the NI-DAQmx C reference -> C Properties -> Physical Channel Properties under TEDS. Here I found functionality for retreiving basic TEDS information which works great, furthermore I found functionality for retreiving the TEDS bitstream and templateID, but I'm having trouble decoding information. My reference for decoding information from the TEDS sensor is IEEE 1451.4 and The IEEE 1451.4 Standard for Smart Transducers but the data return from NI-DAQmx functions does not seems right.

In desperation for a solution to this problem I have looked at NI-DAQmx C reference -> C Properties -> Channel Properties which I didn't have any luck with either for retrieving the required information.

I have also been searching this forum and google for something that might give me hint on how to retrieve information and if neccesary decode the information required.

The reason for being so hardheaded about solving this problem is that, when I use NI MAX software to read sensors TEDS info, it is possible for NI MAX to retrieve information that I require. And to knwoledge is NI MAX using NI-DAQmx interface to communicate with the hardware, so this should not be impossible to do.

Hope someone can give me some hint on how to go around/solve this problem.

Regards,

Kent

Hello,

I'm using a CNiGraph (from Measurement Studio 8 in Visual c++ standard edition) control in my CDialog window, and I whant to return FALSE or another message when I'm pressing the F1 key or when it's receiving a WM_HELPINFO message.

My first option was to make a derived class (CNiGraphEx) from CNiGraph, but I'm getting the following errors:

NiGraphEx.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: virtual int __thiscall NI::CNiGraph::CreateControl(char const *,char const *,unsigned long,struct tagRECT const &,class CWnd *,unsigned int,class CFile *,int,wchar_t *)" (?CreateControl@CNiGraph@NI@@UAEHPBD0KABUtagRECT@@PAVCWnd@@IPAVCFile@@HPA_W@Z)
NiGraphEx.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: virtual int __thiscall NI::CNiGraph::CreateControl(struct _GUID const &,char const *,unsigned long,struct tagRECT const &,class CWnd *,unsigned int,class CFile *,int,wchar_t *)" (?CreateControl@CNiGraph@NI@@UAEHABU_GUID@@PBDKABUtagRECT@@PAVCWnd@@IPAVCFile@@HPA_W@Z)
NiGraphEx.obj : error LNK2001: unresolved external symbol "public: virtual int __thiscall NI::CNiGraph::Create(char const *,unsigned long,struct tagRECT const &,class CWnd *,unsigned int,class CFile *,int,wchar_t *)" (?Create@CNiGraph@NI@@UAEHPBDKABUtagRECT@@PAVCWnd@@IPAVCFile@@HPA_W@Z)
Release/daq4502R.exe : fatal error LNK1120: 3 unresolved externals

The second option was to add a new class with 'MFC class from ActiveX Control' using '_DCWGraph' interface, but I'm not able to use all the CNiGraph functions with the new class.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

Thanks.
