you can show me how to build a new tag and use it as a state on the synoptic and to indicate alarm status (how they are declared the alarm tag?)

Can you send me the development manual, the online help is not sufficiently clear.

Lookout 6.6 alarm printing

We have Lookout 6.6 installed on windows XP. Everything works well except when I try to print the alarm list there is nothing there. Even though I know there should be. Can you help?

Email: SMTP error 535 5.7.3 Authentication Unsuccessful

I get the following Lookout error when using the Mailer object to send emails:

Email authentication is failed. SMTP error 535 5.7.3 Authentication Unsuccessful

It works just fine from my office location and other locations, but when I run the same program at my customer's location I get the above error.

I had the IT tech at AT&T open up port 25 on my customers internet account. Before she opened up the port, all I would get

is the error: Timeout during connection to SMTP server.

We use our company's SMTP server in the Mailer object, The SMTP requires authentication

HyperTrend and Expressions

I am looking for a way to use HyperTrend to trend an expression I have created.

Does HyperTrend allow trending of an expression? I have not been able to create a trend using Lookout 6.5 or 6.6.

Anyone with work around ideas.

Modbus?? Is running to slow to process

I am running lookout 6.6 on Dell Precision T3600 Windows 7 Pro. 64 bit 8 RAM workstation the problem is on Process_Server\Modbus?? Is running to slow to process it takes mins to load.. Is it the program issue or system?

How do I show positive flow only (flow meter)?

Some of the flow meters I deal with dip below zero (below 4 mA) when pumps are idle. I only want to show the flow meter readout to be '0' (in Lookout) when meter goes to negative #'s, how can I do this?

finding RTU address in Zetron Controllers

I am working with lookout 5.1 that is communicating with a Zetron RTU 1716 and 1700 controller. How do I find the addresses in lookout. I know the address in the Zetrons (dip switches) but how do I know I have the correct ones in lookout?

Lookout Adminitrator Password reset

A previous employee reset the Administrator password on Lookout 5.1 before he left the company. Now we cannot make any changes to it. How can we reset the Administrator password so that we can edit the program?

Integral continues to totalize when input is false

I am using the Integral object to totalize flows.

The input for this only goes true when we have overflow from a sewer manhole.

As long as I have flow over 1 m3/min the unit reads correctly. (Max flow is 2.5m3/min).

When I get a flow below 1 the unit is adding 1 every minute instead of actual flow (eg .5 m3/min).

Any ideas.

The other thing it does, is not shut off again even if the input appears to be false. So once triggered it will record flow every day even if there is no flow.

For example it may read the overflow the first day but on the second day when there is no flow it will read 1440 m3.

1 m3/min for 1440 minutes. I have created a couple of different Integral objects and the problem can be duplicated at this site.

I have a copy of Lookout in the office and can not duplicate the problem.

hardware pv cannot be written on the registry

Hi All,

I supplied to customer an ABB CM50 process controllers with Modbus capability. The customer will hook these up to their Lookout software v6.2. In the event of hooking up, the process controllers can communicate but once they configure the PV, SET Points and the Outputs, it cannot be written in the registry except for bits, such as the A/M switch and the ON-OFF switch. What seems to be the problem?

Lookout4 to Lookout4.5 Source Conversion?

Is there anyone that can recompile my source into version 4.5?

I'm trying to migrate an existing Lookout 4.0 project into LookoutDirect (sold my AutomationDirect) which is based on version 4.5 of Lookout.

I've been having problems with LookoutDirect crashing when attempting to recompile the existing source code. AutomationDirect tech support suggested trying to convert the file to v4.5 and import.

Object display get lost from the screens

we are using the lookout 6.5 in server-client architecture and facing the problem that sometimes the display from the panel is geting lost. in edit mode we can select the expression display at the location where the display was placed. but it is not displaying the graphics which was associated earlier with that. Please comment what could be the reason for that.

Lookout 6.5 database problem

I had to re-install Windows 7 64 bit and Lookout 6.5 because of some strange lockups we were having. After re-installing Lookout and my process files I copied the database directory that I made a backup of before the Windows reinstall to the new database directory location and since I have done this when we try to print the Events & alarms they do not print and if we try to shutdown lookout it will say it is trying to print XX (How ever many times we have tried to print) jobs and will not let you shut down. I have to use the task manager to shut down lookout. I am pretty sure the problem is with the database because I have a SQL error in the windows event log that says at the same time I try to print the Event and Alarm Logs:

Event 184456 , MSSQL$CITADEL

I am pretty sure this is because I had copied the old database directory to the new computer after re-installing Windows 7 and Lookout. I did this so we would not lose our historical data. Any help you can give me in resolving this problem would be greatly appreciated.

citadel5 linked server sql

Anyone out there know how to create a linked server to a remote CITADEL5 database from SQL Server? This is attempting to connect to a Lookout 6.6 server. I assume that this would be the same for Labview users too, that there should be a way to connect to a remote citadel 5 database. I have installed the Lookout 6.6 client on the SQL server attempting to make the connection and have successfully created and tested an ODBC system DSN, which is what I am trying to use for the connection.

I have a successful ODBC connection, but when I go to create a linked server I am getting the following:

Modbus slave problem

Hi,

I have a strange problem with Modbus slave object.

Modbus slave object is created on Lookout 6.1, and Modbus master is on Lookout 6.5. They communicate over wireless Ethernet connection. Connection works fine until it stops for some reason.

After that it never repairs.

But when we restart Lookout 6.1 with Modbus slave, communication works fine again.

This starts to happend almost once peer day.

Is there any ideas for help?

Citadel 5 universe not showing under Historical Data

I am trying to extract report for the History for Pump turn on/off point as well as history for the tank levels. I was told to go to Lookout top line menu, select "Options", then "Historical Data Viewer", then click the Plus sign to the left of the "Historical Data" to show "Citadel 5 Universe". Unfortunately "Citadel 5 Universe" does not show. As a matter of fact, there is nothing shown when clicking on the Plus sign to the left of the "Historical Data". Any suggestions?

What is new in Lookout 6.7 as opposed to Lookout 6.6? Just received it in the mail and did not even know it was released. I cannot find any info on it and none of the paperwork that came with the disk gives any information.

Lookout 6.5 Modbus Serial Problem

I have a Lookout 6.5 system that has been running properly for well over a year. Normally we usually experience a computer lockup (Usually Windows is Frozen) and have to reboot the computer 2 or 3 times a year. But recently we are having a problem where all of the modbus secondary units are giving us an error the says cannot communicate with the modbus secondary ETC. We get this error message for all of our RTU's except the local MODBUS controller which is a Zetron 1700. When this happens we get the red X's on all of the I/O points in our process and everything in the field stays at its current state. This has happened at least 6 times in the last month!

To try and narrow down the problem I have had my customer power cycle the MODBUS controller and the radio and that does not fix the problem. When the MODBUS controller is power cycled we can see the controller is getting responses from all of the external RTU's but Lookout still does not see the data. I have also had them shut down Lookout and then restart Lookout and this also does not fix the problem. The only fix seems to be to restart the computer and then everything comes back up running properly. Because we can see what time the problem occurred I can then go into the Windows Event Viewer and look for any problems around the time when the problem started. But there is absolutely no events that would indicate a problem in either the System or Applications Event Logs?

The system is running Lookout 6.5 build 49153 on Windows 7 64 Bit. The serial connection is using a USB to RS-232 converter. Any help you can give me in troubleshooting this issue would be greatly appreciated. I need to get this resolved ASAP because the process is running a city's fresh water system and so far we have overflowed the tank several times and one time we got dangerously low because of this issue.

32bit and 64bit Windows and Lookout

I have two versions of Lookout - 6.0 and 6.6. I am trying to install them on Windows 7/64bit version and find that when I install them, they do not start up at all. I click on the icon and nothing happens. Is this because these versions of Lookout can run only on 32bit version of Windows 7? Or is this another problem entirely?
