LV2009: opening and extensively editing a v8.6 VI, saving, then error code 3

My question is about this known "Error code 3" bug that surfaces when trying to load a vi originally created in LV8.6 then saved and reloaded in LV2009. There is a suggested workaround but it doesnt seem to help me.

Using LV2009 I have extensively modified a vi that was created in LV8.6 - I saved it - and now I am  trying to reload it but I am faced with Error code 3. Is there any way at all I can somehow open up the wire diagram at least?

Thanks,

Hi TZ

Have you tried placing the VI as a subVI? Just open a blank VI and drag-drop your VI onto it's block diagram from Windows.

Best Regards

Thanks for the reply David.

Yep, I gave that a try. Unfortunately, it came up with the same error.

Can you post the VI so we can have a look?

It is really offended..

I get the same error message, and cannot open it.

Sounds like ...  euh...   not so good news 😞    I'm trying to put it mildly..

See error message below:

Sickening stuff. A fair amount of effort went into that vi....

Thanks for the responses.

I know how you must feel.  A similar situation happened to me about 2 years ago and I lost 1 day of work.  The day before a presentation to the customer..  -- yikes --

It's always a good idea to do "extra" backups.  And store the backup on a daily basis.

Sorry I didn't have any better news.

But thats the thing - I dont think that extra backups would have help here - or I dont understand the error.

I was thinking that error (bug?) arises from loading up a v8.6 VI, editing it (including new controls on the panel) and then saving it in LV2009. Then, after quitting and reloading LV2009, trying to load up this vi bring up this error.

Or have I just got unlucky here?
