Hi Fati,

If you have an NI-ELVIS then you most likely have it connected to a Data Acquisition (DAQ) device in your computer.  You can access the DAQ device from the output pins on the NI-ELVIS.  The Full, Professional and Developer versions of LabVIEW come with Signal Processing VIs such as FFT and Power Spectrum VIs.  You can use these VIs for frequency analysis in software.  The DAQ device that you have will be able to perform an analog to digital conversion of signals, which you can then analyze in LabVIEW.  Refer to the Developer Zone article, Spectrum Analyzer Determined by Choice of Measurements, for some information on the different types of spectrum analyzers.

The DAQ device can also be used as a Transient Recorder.  Essentially, the DAQ device will measure a voltage which you can scale in software.  You can trigger acquisition based on a specific event occurring.

If you need general information on how to program in LabVIEW, please refer to LabVIEW Introduction Course - Six Hours and Getting Started with NI-DAQmx: Main Page.  Post back if you have specific questions.
